Healthy Attitudes in Recovery (H.A.I.R.) Feel Appealing While Healing
H.A.I.R. provides resources available in Cheyenne that may be useful to patients experiencing physical and emotional changes due to chemotherapy and radiation therapy. However, the program will furnish new wigs for any Cheyenne Regional patient who is suffering from medical hair loss who has a financial need.
Hospice
This program is designed to control and relieve the suffering of the terminally ill. The goal of the Cheyenne Regional Hospice Services is to allow the patient to remain as active and independent as possible, and die with dignity. Hospice also offers bereavement counseling for families and friends and a special summer camp for children and teens.
Injury Prevention
The Wyoming Department of Health and the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Foundation are co-sponsors of a statewide, public/private collaborative entitled Help me grow – Safe Kids, Stephanie Heist, Director. This successful collaborative has a simple, but compelling mission – to reduce the number of preventable illnesses and injuries affecting Wyoming’s children. As the Regional Trauma Center for our community, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center is committed to prevention and education and this collaborative effort supports its mission.

Parents and caregivers in Cheyenne now have a free and convenient way to get their child’s safety seat inspected, thanks to a new public service provided by the Wyoming Help me grow – Safe Kids Campaign and its co-sponsors the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and the Wyoming Department of Health. In September, 2002, the Campaign celebrated the grand opening of its new child safety seat inspection station located at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne. Help me grow – Safe Kids is one of 30 SAFE KIDS coalitions across the country to be awarded grants from the National SAFE KIDS Campaign® to establish inspection stations in their local communities as part of the Campaign’s SAFE KIDS BUCKLE UP® child passenger safety program. The inspection station offers parents and caregivers personal instruction from certified technicians on the proper use and installation of child safety seats. The inspection station offers set hours of operation so parents and caregivers can plan their schedules accordingly. This service is good news for local families, in light of a new study that found the majority of parents attending child safety seat checkup events in Wyoming continue to make mistakes when using child restraints.

Patient Family Resource Room
A Patient Family Resource room is located on each floor of the new patient tower. This room is equipped with a computer and reference books to help the patient and family understand health issues and anatomy. Many physicians have donated medical books from their private libraries and the Cheyenne Regional Auxiliary inventories each room monthly to replace any lost items. This fund furnishes additional materials and replaces out-of-date or lost items.

Tom Powers Family Fund
In 1998 Tom and Ruth Powers established this fund as well as an endowment to perpetuate support. It is utilized for programs and activities associated with the care of persons with actual or potential renal illnesses and to the greatest extent possible meets the needs of individuals requiring dialysis. A hemodialysis machine and a continuous veno-venus helofiltration unit for use by dialysis patients were purchased for Cheyenne Regional in 1998 from this gift.
